Do You Have The Courage To Challenge The Status Quo?
I woke ups this morning at 4 am with the hopes of getting some (if not all) of my Christmas shopping done. While I was shopping I realized how I had really transformed my life by opting to follow my heart, overcome my fears, and challenging the status quo.
Whether you know it or not you can also change the status quo. You can break those barriers of doing “the right thing” that the world has place around you. Unfortunately, many people don’t realize they have this ability. They are so consumed with fear of change and the unknown that they are holding themselves back from pursuing their true dreams, passions, and desires.
Fear and change should not be a reason for not accomplishing your goals. It should be fuel to motivate you and challenge the status quo. It is critical to stay engaged, passionate, and seek power from within in order to reach your full potential. Life is WAY to short! There is not enough time in life to be unhappy and mediocre. That is why pushing through that box is ESSENTIAL to your success.
Changing The Status Quo
Remember when you were in high school and there were all of these expectations people had for you. You were expected to follow the status quo…go to college, get a good job, and work for someone for the rest of your life. Remember?
In high school this seemed like the only way to a successful life. Now I am not saying you can’t be successful by going this route because I have gone to college and got that job. But my heart was not there. I didn’t have a desire to work for someone else.
Now I am positive there are many people that feel the same way but they are scared to challenge the status quo. They are scared to pursue their true desires and passions. That is unfortunate for them because life is full of possibilities and opportunities. Just look at Oprah Winfrey. Oprah is known all over the world but she didn’t start out that way. She started with a dream and the desire to do more and the more successful she became the bigger her dreams and desires got. Now she has a very large following and people love to talk about what she is doing. The same goes for the big names of the network marketing industry. They started in the same position you are in right now but they opted to change the status quo and break through that barrier that was holding them back. They made a decision to pursue their dreams. You can make that same decision…the decision to be remarkable, the decision to change the status quo.
Be Remarkable
You have the opportunity to be remarkable just by changing the status quo but it requires commitment. It involves reaching out to others and putting your ideas on the line. It requires believing in yourself even when the people around you do not.
See you have the ability to change the world around you, lead people, and give them a reason to be a part of something great. But it’s easy to give in to your fear and tell yourself that you don’t have what it takes to be remarkable. Do not give these thoughts fertilizer to grow because the truth is people are not born remarkable they do things to make themselves remarkable. It’s a choice, not a gift!
In order to have all the advantages and opportunities that life has to offer, you must uphold an obligation not to settle. It’s time to change the rules, raise the bar, play a different game, and play it better than anyone believes is possible. That’s the difference between being remarkable and mediocre. That is how leaders are born.
Why Not You, Why Not Now?
Right now at this moment you have everything you need to achieve your goals. You have everything you need to be a leader but you insist on playing today’s game by yesterday’s rules. The problem is the skeptic among you looks at the idea of leadership and hesitates. You hesitate because it feels like something you need to be ordained to do. But the truth is there are no barriers on leadership. You don’t have to have permission or approval to lead. You can just do it. The only one who can say no is you.
To be a leader you don’t have to be the smartest, the richest, or have the best education you just have to be willing to say yes. For instance, John McCain was fifth in his class (from the bottom) at the US Naval Academy and Ghandi was a lawyer in South Africa but they chose to lead, be part of a movement, and challenge the status quo.
So why not you, why not now?
Take The Lead
Sounds easy, right?
That’s because it is. You may not realize it but you have far more power than you could ever imagine. One person can change the game. One person can create a movement. The only thing that can hold you back from taking the lead and becoming the kind of person that changes things is this: LACK OF FAITH!
Faith is a key element in creating change. You have to believe that you can do it and that it is worth doing. If you don’t have the faith then people won’t follow you because you don’t believe you can get where you say you’re going. Faith is your life line as a leader. It is critical to all innovation.
But don’t be misleading into thinking that you can lead when you’re not ready just because I say you have what you need. Leadership requires commitment, passion, and the will to overcome your fears. If you are struggling with any of these, this may not be the right time for you to take the lead. Take the follow instead, build up your confidence and lead later.
See leadership comes when your hope and your optimism are matched with a concrete vision of the future and a way to get there. It comes when you create a culture around your goals and involve others. It comes when you communicate your vision and connect your followers to one another.
See leaders embrace change and turn it into opportunity. They make the choice to lead.
Now you also have a choice to lead whether you choose to do so is your decision. But be aware that there are people all over the internet searching for someone just like you to inspire and lead them. You already have all the skills you need to make a huge difference. The great thing is that you don’t have to wait on things to be perfect…you can start right now.
