It’s a New Year and everyone is setting their goals and resolutions. They are trying to lose weight, get out of debt, start their own business, and the list goes on. But none of this can happen without visualization and harnessing the power of Success Thinking.
Now if you don’t know what success thinking is then let me explain. Success Thinking is creating positive, forward-looking, optimistic pictures in your own mind and in the minds of others.
When you are a success thinker it resonates in everything that you do from your words, to your body language, to your actions. Success thinkers understand that words are the raw materials of thought and those words are projected into pictures of sorts in your mind. That is why it is important to practice using big positive words to describe how you feel, to describe other people, and to encourage others. Those pictures determine how you and others react to situations. In other words if your pictures are positive then that is how you will react, if you have negative pictures than your reactions will be negative.
Success thinkers also understand the power of visualization. They always visualize what can be done in the future instead of being stuck in the present. See being stuck in the present indicates small thinking and will hinder your success for the future. Don’t let unimportant things stop you from achieving your goals. Think big and none of the little things will hold you back.
See when success is concerned your background doesn’t matter it is the size of your thinking that determines the size of your accomplishments.
How to enlarge your Success thinking
In order to be a success thinker it is important to train yourself to see not just what is but what you can be. You have to be willing to practice being a Success Thinker by looking beyond your current circumstances and taking the proper actions that will enable you accomplish your goals.
You can do this by first developing your own power to see what can be and not just what is. Developing your power can be done through what I call ‘amplifying excellence’.
In the following exercises, I will show you how you can amplify excellence by practicing adding value. You will learn how to expand your success thinking and become more attractive just by taking a few minutes out of your day.
Exercise 1
Practice adding value to yourself. Take the time daily to conduct an interview with yourself and ask, “What can I do to make myself valuable today?” Then take the time to visualize yourself not as you are but what you can be. This will get your mind trained to think about how you can achieve your goals. You will be surprised on how fast the ideas will start pouring in and how much more value you attain for yourself.
Exercise 2
Practice adding value to people. As you create more and more success your job becomes more of ‘people development’. So you want to ask yourself, “What can I do to add value to my subordinates? What can I do to help them be more effective?” See you want to bring out the best people and show them how to do the same. The more you add value to people the more they are going to want to be around you and work with you. But remember, in order to bring the best out in a person first you must be able to visualize their best.
Exercise 3
Practice adding value to your products and services. You want to ask yourself, “What can I do to make my products and services more valuable? What can I do make my business more attractive?” You want to look for ideas to make things worth more. See you can have the same product as your counterparts but if you have more to give with that product then people will be more inclined to purchase from you.
Success thinkers see themselves as part of a bigger picture. They want to help in every way they can (even when there is no immediate compensation or reward) because they understand that long term success stems far beyond the initial sale. See Success thinking takes practice, focus, and persistence to achieve the BIG objective.
So use 2010 to start or broaden your success thinking. Don’t sell yourself short. Take the time to stretch your vision into areas of the unknown. Practice adding value to yourself, people, and your products and services. Most of all focus your attention on the big objectives. Don’t let any petty matter deter you from your goals.
Create Success By Thinking BIG Success!
Happy New Year!

Hi Tasha,
What valuable advice. I especially like #1 about adding value to yourself. Because you can’t take care of others properly if you don’t take care of yourself first. Great post!

Thanks Theresa. It is just a little common sense…you can’t give what you don’t have. So you must add value to yourself so that you are able to give more to others.
This is a VERY impressive blog. I love your opening video.
“Practicing adding value to yourself”- loving it! Getting the knowledge and the skils
“Practicing adding value to people” – you’ve got it, my friend
“Practicing adding value to your products and services” – There is no other way…as Gary V. would say “we are in the ‘thank you’ economy”

Thanks Jean, I look forward to sharing with you.
This is a fabulous post, Tasha. I love your wording ~ amplifying excellence. Right on! And yes, as much as it’s important to give to others, if we are not giving to ourselves first, others will see that and our efforts will be diminished.
I look forward to exploring your really great looking blog here!

Yes Beth…you can’t give what you don’t have. So we must continue to increase or knowledge to give to others
Your welcome Krista. Thanks for stopping by. Continue to come back for more information
Hey Dev, Thank you so much for the compliment. Have a good 2010.
Tasha thanks for the reminder that success starts on the inside. It starts with what we focus on. Napoleon Hill said “what the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve”. I think it’s easy for us to forget the correct order of those words. We often go out trying to lead with action instead of lead with vision. I love your exercises!
May 2010 be your best year ever!

Oh your welcome Kimberly. Thanks for the comment.
Hi Tasha,
So true..it’s so important to add value in every area of your life. I also enjoyed your idea of seeing the big picture. That gives a magnificent vision for yourself and the world. Awesome!
I think of this as the rule, what you said about success thinkers seeing & wanting to help in every way they can (even when there is no immediate compensation or reward) If they keep that focus the reward/objective should surely follow, right?
Thanks for sharing this
Tasha,
This is a really wonderful post…thank you for some great insight and direction for the new year!
Let’s ROCK IT OUT in 2010.
Thanks,

Absolutely Robin, the rewards will come. They may not come immediately but they will come. Patience plays a HUGE part in being successful online. You must be willing to give alot and recieve little. If your mentality is a giving mentality then you get what you deserve and want from your business. The proverb,”You reap what you sew” (what happens to you is the result of what you do) is true in all forms of your life including your business. How can you expect great life, a great business, and great results in everything that you do if your not willing to put in the neccessary efforts. It just won’t work very well. You have to be ready to give your all and then some more. It may seem hard at first but the benefits in the end are worth every minute of your blood, sweat, and tears.
So give it all you got and then give it some more. The universe will reward you for your efforts in time.
This is an awesome post Tasha! Not only have you given us the mindset for success, but you have given us the exercises that will help keep us in success. Thanks for sharing these great tips!
